Australia Awards Scholarships aim to contribute to the long-term development needs of Australia’s Partner Countries to promote growth and stability. The scholarships are a highly-valued form of development cooperation between Australia and Papua New Guinea. The scholarships target jointly agreed key priority areas and provide the opportunity for Papua New Guineans to obtain tertiary qualifications at participating Australian Institutions. In doing so the scholarship equips Papua New Guineans with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive change and influence Papua New Guinea’s development outcomes.
Individuals interested in applying for an Australia Awards Scholarship are strongly advised to plan, prepare and ensure that all necessary documentation pertaining to your educational background, employment and health including financial evidence are in order well before submitting an application. Fraudulent documentation used in support of your scholarship application will result in disqualification. The Australian Aid Program has a “zero tolerance” approach to fraud.
These scholarships are highly competitive awards, with only a limited number of scholarships awarded as compared to the number of applications. Applicants undergo an intensive selection process that involves face-to-face interviews, academic ability testing and English language proficiency testing to ensure that only high achieving Papua New Guineans are awarded a scholarship.
